The Book of Life ~ Movie Review

From producer Guillermo del Toro and director Jorge Gutierrez comes an animated comedy with a unique visual style. THE BOOK OF LIFE is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Rich with a fresh take on pop music favorites, THE BOOK OF LIFE encourages us to celebrate the past while looking forward to the future.

The little dude and I had the opportunity to see The Book of Life last Thursday. I wasn't sure if this was going to be something that he should watch. He's such a sensitive little guy. I talked it over with him and explained a little about what I read in the plot summary. We decided to give it a try. It turns out this movie is so much more than just a love story or a story about those who have gone before us. It's a story about selflessness and bravery....bravery WITHOUT violence. It illustrates that there are other ways to win the battle. Sometimes trying to understand others and practice a little patience and tolerance is way more powerful than wielding a sword.

We came out of the movie both really loving it. There's action, adventure, sadness, happiness and yes... LOVE.

This is a great movie for this time of year since it starts during the celebration for the Day of the Dead. It teaches those who may not be familiar with it what it's all about. I think this movie would be great any time of year. It's just a great story.

We bot suggest it to everyone. It's great for child and adults. The story is great and the visual beauty is breathtaking at times.

We here at "This is me..." say GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
