What I ate Wednesday! (Overdue) Roadtrip edition!!!

Welcome back to What I Ate Wednesday! I'm linking up again with the awesomeness that is Peas and Crayons! I had great intentions of getting a little something written up regarding the road trip and the great food that I ate on vacation for LAST Weds. However, my own clumsiness prevented that from happening. I gave myself a bit of a concussion and I haven't been 100% since.

I'm going to give you a few little tidbits about the trip and some of the goodies that I ate on the way and since but this definitely will not be my best work. I anticipate being a little more with it next week. Please don't judge too harshly!

So you know, we went to Legoland. We live in Northern California and it's located in Southern California. It's about an 8 hour drive (the way I drive). We leave at 2am in order to miss the nastiness that is the Los Angeles rush hour traffic.

Now, there is going to be a whole series of blog posts coming about some of the great products I had along with me on the road trip, so I'm not going to delve too deeply into the specifics...yet.

Back to the trip.....The 3 traveling buddies I had with me weren't too hungry during the actual drive so we decided to eat once we got down there. We tried one of the cafés in the hotel we were staying in (The Legoland California Hotel and Resort). This little place was called the Skyline Café and was adorable. I had done a lot of research as far as the buffet and food in the park, but I hadn't checked out the gluten free options at other places in the hotel. Ruh roh. Oh wait.....Nachos. Hell, I'm on vacation right? Let the nachos and lunchtime martinis commence!!! Yep, that's right. After getting up at 1am, on the road at 2am and arriving in SoCal at 10:30am.....I was having nachos and martinis at 11:30am. This IS the life!

From there we headed on over to the park for some fun. We didn't snack a whole lot that day just because we were all filled up from our lunch.

We then went to the (dare I say it) dinner buffet. Oh good God. There was so much food there and there was so much gluten free food for me! I was NOT starving! Everything was delicious too. Since this day was my son's birthday as well I splurged and let him order room service for the first time. He had room service milk and cookies for his birthday celebration in our amazing room!

Guess what.....we also had the breakfast buffet the next morning! So many buffets, so little room in my tummy! I did my best to shove as much bacon in my face as I could. I felt it was my duty and I wanted to get my moneys worth out of that inclusive breakfast buffet!

However, if you know me at know that the one thing I was waiting for....the one thing I HAVE to eat when I'm in Legoland......the ONE thing that I will cheat on ANY diet for are these amazing little fried pieces of heaven with whipped cream on top......

These little gems are Granny's Apple fries.....and yes....they ARE gluten free.

After eating these I did feel slightly guilty, but I got over it.

Unfortunately, we only stayed one night in the cool hotel so we had to eat out that afternoon and evening. We went to BJ's for lunch (their gluten free menu is amazing) and then the boys had pizza for dinner while the daddyo and I went and got some El Pollo Loco. So yes, I did eat basically nothing but crap for an entire weekend....but it was all good!

Next weeks WIAW will be a little different. I'm getting back into the world of low carb living as well as trying out a weight loss/cleanse tea. It's actually pretty dang tasty (my evening cleanse is brewing right now). The combination of low carbs and the tea should get this girl moving in the right direction.

Please stop back by on Friday to link up with my blog! No back link required, just a place to network and get your blog visible to a few more folks.

Hope you have a great day and I can't wait to see what everyone else has been munching on!
